What's on the Internet? Allan Turner People often asked me to write a regular piece for this newsletter about the Internet and I always intend to do it. This time I've actually got round to it! There is a something of a paradox in writing about a media that changes daily (the Internet) in a media that needs a lead-time of a few weeks. I thought it might be helpful to tell you about some of the Person Centred resources that are available on the World Wide Web.
ADPCA site. (http://www.adpca.org) This site has now been up for a few months and is just moving from the "under construction" stage to being regularly useful. Probably its most interesting feature at present is the list of papers, many by eminent Person Centred practitioners, which are available. Not only can you read these papers but you can download them and print them for future reference. The original papers are stored on Matt Ryan's and my own sites. Matt is no longer adding new papers to his list, but I will accept new ones. I preferred to receive them in digital form (by e-mail or on floppy disc). The next big project for this site is to add a list of all ADPCA members, indexed by country. This will be organised nationally and will list simply your name as basic information. We hope this would provide useful information for visitors to our site and in the case of our "famous names" search engines are more likely to find the site if we can include such names. We are happy to include additional information if you would like it. This could include your full address, telephone number and e-mail address or a cut down version of that. We thought it would be fun to include photographs and if you would like to include brief information about yourself that could also be helpful (I intend that you talk about your interest in the Person Centred Approach -- not that you collect stamps and were Miss America in 1984). If possible please send this information via e-mail to Allan Turner at The street address is a 9 Comfrey Close, Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. MK7 7BY United Kingdom.
BAPCA site. (http://users.powernet.co.uk/bapca/). This is a brand new site, which we can expect to see soon. The British Association for the Person Centred Approach is growing rapidly and the site will become its Internet window to the world. If things go really well it will be possible for you to read this article on their site but it may be some time before that kind of detailed information is available.
Allan Turner's Person Centred Web site. (http://users.powernet.co.uk/pctmk/). This is my own site and in Internet terms it is well established. I try to provide information about anything that is Person Centred -- anywhere in the world. My recent large project was to reorganise all the information listing counselors with at least 300 hours specific Person Centred training. There are literally hundreds of councelors listed. If you are listed and have access to the Internet I would like you to check that the information about you is correct. If you are not listed, but would like to be, please get in touch with me. I have most recently been working on information about Person Centred training courses. The list is indexed by country and covers everything from short, 60 hour courses (Strathclyde University has the largest number of entries) through to PhD courses. All three sites listed above used my list of "Person Centred links" and therefore provide a gateway to many other Person Centred sites around the world. I look forward to seeing you in cyberspace!
