ADPCA Conference

ADPCA Annual Conference

The ADPCA Conference is a unique way to experience and learn about the PCA (Person-Centered Approach) and CCT (Client-Centered Therapy). It happens annually and aims to provide opportunity for self and professional development in an atmosphere where participants can freely express themselves. The experiential side of the conference combines daily large community meetings (encounter groups) and regular small groups, both being a central part of the conference. The academic quality is also very present and consists of person-centered practitioners, trainers and students from different cultural and professional backgrounds sharing workshops, presentations, discussion groups and/or practical demonstration sessions. At the conference, we also have ADPCA Business Meetings where matters related to the Association are openly addressed, discussed and decided in a democratic way. ADPCA does not have a hierarchical structure like in traditional associations, so all members have the right to share their views and equally have a say in the decision making process. The annual Business Meetings are where official functional decisions regarding the association are made. Non-members participating in the conference are also welcome to join these meetings.

2018 Conference

33rd Annual Conference for the Development of the Person Centered Approach

ATLANTA - July 25-29, 2018

The Atlanta conference committee (Dr. Rob Richardson, his partner Ken Barthels, and friend Jana Chambers-Sepich) are pleased to announce that this year’s conference will be held at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta.  The meetings and presentations will be held in a multi-classroom facility and we have arranged for the availability of a limited number of close-by dormitory rooms for those people who desire such lodging.

The conference will be held downtown at a GSU facility. For those interested in housing, GSU will house us in the University Commons resident hall featuring a private room in two or four bedroom apartment style units.  All units come with fully equipped kitchens, furnished bedrooms, and living spaces.  ADA accessible apartments are also available.  The resident hall is located at 141 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Nightly rates are $40.52, with an optional meal plan that includes breakfast and lunch for an additional 1-time fee of $69.68, additionally optional parking is offered at $5 per day.  Besides GSU housing, downtown Atlanta offers a plethora of nearby hotels.

Please follow the link below to register for GSU housing.

The Atlanta conference location features many nearby food establishments, in addition to a GSU cafeteria that is open throughout the day and early evening.  Also, Atlanta’s rapid transit ( MARTA) has a station nearby that offers transportation to the airport.

Rob is working with the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, Inc.  The conference will offer around 24 CEU hours.

As per usual, we will have planned community and small group meetings along with scheduled presentations of research and ideas.  We will have a casual activity Saturday night that involves a hospitality hour followed by a walking tour of nearby downtown attractions.

Going forward, as conference time gets nearer, we will distribute schedules, presentations, precise directions, a conference packet, etc. and other pertinent information.

Please complete and return the Registration Form and instructions.
