This website has been a long but rewarding journey. Its idea was born few years ago as the result of spontaneous interactions among some creative ADPCA members and the direct response of Renate Motschnig, who is a professor at the University of Vienna, Austria, Faculty of Computer Science and has been immerged in the PCA for several years, and who is originally from the Czech Republic.
In the last year, a greater focus was given to the development of the project. A website committee was set up following discussions that involved the membership at the Business Meeting of the ADPCA 2009 Conference in Kutztown, USA. Its input added to the work already started by Edgar Kadlec, Renate's Master's student, who kindly agreed to continue the venture offering his technical skills and using the project for his own research study. The conjunction of these ‘flavors’, topped with much determination, brought us here today.
The committee, made of members who volunteered for the project, also played a key role in the development of the site. Its interactive process resulted in an informative and warm electronic face for our Association. We also had invaluable collaboration from members who volunteered to compose rich content for these pages. You will feel their presence throughout the web-pages. The membership also had opportunities to share views and ideas in the initial phase and during the progress of the website, at Business Meetings and through the Association email network.
The above process with its open, inclusive and democratic principles presented challenges and took longer than we initially envisioned. But, this is what genuine life is about, no? We are all human beings with our weaknesses and strengths, with our ups and downs. Since our website resulted from our openness to experience and interactions, it also reflected the aforementioned qualities. And, as such, it is still a work in progress – an authentic process.
We want to say a big thank to all the collaborators of this ongoing journey and also to Allan Turner, our colleague from the UK, who generously and skillfully looked after our previous site, bearing with us until this project reached the present stage.
We welcome you to our person centered website and hope you enjoy it!
